A woman died and her baby ended up in the hospital after a BMW struck the car they were traveling in on 8900 block of Stirling Road in Cooper City around 7 pm Friday. According to Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide detectives, the mother and the child, whose identities were not release pending next of kin notification, were the back seat passengers of a Scion exiting a business on Stirling Road. When the driver of the Scion, Stacy Ann Melisa Telemaque, 23, tried to cross Stirling Road it was struck by a westbound BMW that appeared to be speeding along side a 2008 Mercedes Benz, but that has not been confirmed pending the investigation, according to a press release.
A suspected car thief was nabbed after he crashed the stolen car and sent police on a search after he ran away from the scene. Palm Beach police said they got a call about a car accident just after 4:30 on Tuesday at the intersection of Pine Walk and South County Road. One of the drivers in the cars involved in the accident had sped off, according to an arrest report. As officers were responding to the accident, a woman called police and said a man in a car that police thought matched the description of the one involved in the accident had pulled up to her house.
A 13-year-old Lauderhill boy died Thursday morning in a car accident on Interstate 95 in Indian River County. Dylan Joseph was ejected from a 2005 Isuzu Ascender when the driver lost control and the SUV overturned on northbound I-95 at mile marker 158, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark G. Wysocky. Joseph was taken to Sebastian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m., Wysocky said. Driver Jamila Mandisa Myrtis Stewart, 25, and passengers Charmaine Maria Sutherland, 47; Joshua Brooks, 11; Kyle Joseph, 11; and Ryan Joseph, 14; all of Lauderhill, were taken to hospitals and treated for minor injuries, Wysocky said.
When business owner Roger Mauermann met Robert Murphy at a youth baseball game, Mauermann decided to take a chance. Murphy - a recent east coast transplant looking for work - boasted a financial savvy and hard work ethic, which led Mauermann to hire him. When Mauermann's son got into a serious car accident in September 2012, Mauermann asked Murphy to step in to run the business.  A Miami-Dade police officer who lost control of his cruiser, causing him to strike a guard rail, is in a hospital in stable condition. A police statement says Sgt. Jorge Perez had his emergency lights on Saturday while driving on the Florida Turnpike. He lost control of the car as he was trying to go around another vehicle. He ended up crashing into a guard rail. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units airlifted Perez to Ryder Trauma Center where he's listed in stable condition.

An 82-year-old Delray Beach man died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash on West Atlantic Avenue just west of Lyons Road, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office. David R. Armstrong lost consciousness while he was driving and his 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis went off the road, through a drainage ditch and into a private parking lot on the 9700 block of West Atlantic Ave. The victim was unresponsive at the scene and was brought to Delray Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.
